LET’S TALK! Between Rema and Burna Boy — Who Do You Think Should Win The MTV EMA Best African Act Award?
Rema and Burna Boy have been nominated for the Best African Act in the MTV EMAs, but who should take home the coveted prize?
The nominations for the MTV EMA awards got released this afternoon and it chronicles artists who’ve been spectacular in the last one year.
Amongst those nominated were our own Burna Boy and Rema who will slug it out in the same category — Best African Act.
But who deserves it the more? We look at the activities of the two artistes in the last one year.
Rema
Rema’s story has been awe-inspiring and nothing short of incredible. If we’re date back to when he began, specifically in March 2019, Rema has been the leader of his generation.
Three EPs, spanning countless hits and some achievements have followed as well. An appearance on Barack Obama’s summer playlist, being recognized on Pitchfork and Rollingstone’s lists of song of the year.
Yo, these are huge wins for an artist that began just last year.
Burna Boy
Again, 2020 has seen Burna Boy continue his amazing run he kickstarted in 2018 when Ye turned to be a global hit.
But majoring in his 2019-2020 period, Burna Boy has ascended his career to another level. A Grammy nom has entered the picture, a BET win few months back and perhaps the best African album we’ve heard this year in Twice As Tall.
Last year he won this same award and with the successes he’s had with Twice As Tall alone, who knows he could win this year’s as well.
