Ekiti Election, Consider Yourself Promoted If Sacked Because Of Me, Fayemi Assures Workers
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has assured workers to consider themselves to be on holiday awaiting promotion if they are sacked by Governor Ayodele Fayose because of their support for his governorship aspiration.
A student of the College of Health Technology, Ijero-Ekiti, had tearfully narrated his alleged ordeal in the hands of the college Rector, Bayo Ojo, for refusing to part of Fayose’s crowd led by the rector to always support Fayose in rented crowd solidarity.
According to a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Wole Olujobi, Fayemi made the declaration when a victimised student of theCollege of Health Technology, Ijero-Ekiti, was speaking at a forum of stakeholders, including students, youth groups, academic and non-academic unions of tertiary institutions in the state, where they gathered to express support for his governorship aspiration.
The student said he was sent out of school for his activism and refusal to be corralled into pro-Fayose scheme that offended his ideological principle.
The tearful student begged Fayemi to come to his aid because he was suspended after he disagreed with the Rector of the school, Bayo Ojo, on principle over support for Fayose “whose policy stands no chance to improve his academic and personal standard”.
He said the rector was in the habit of carrying out Fayose’s orders, no matter how ridiculous, including packing the students in the bus for political rallies anywhere in the state to support Fayose on all issues.
Fayemi assured the student of support, vowing to assist the student to seek legal redress for illegal dismissal. He also assured other victims of political harassment that they would be assisted legally to enjoy their rights.
He said: “All victims of political victimisation who have been sacked for their political choice should consider yourselves to be on holiday.
Besides, such victims shall all be promoted after reinstatement to their positions to compensate for illegal punishment by the authorities.
“For this particular case, I will hire a lawyer for you to enjoy your right,” Fayemi said, as thunderous ovation greeted his declaration.
