Man Kills His Sons With Sniper After A Pastor Labeled Them Wizards In Bayelsa

A 42-year-old man, Samuel Sunday Otasi, and his brother, Preye Ayah, have been arrested by the police in Igbogene community, a suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, for murdering two of his children.

Otasi was said to have connived with Preye and tied his three children to a tree in a bush along Glory Land Drive, Igbogene, on December 29, 2018, and forced them to drink sniper.

His children, Success, Miracle, and Godstime, ages 14, 12 and 10 respectively, were alleged to have been bewitched by their mother (who is separated from Otasi) in the bid to destroy the family.

Trouble was said to have started when a Yenagoa-based prophet, Goerge Odoko of George Odoko Outreach Ministries, told the father of the children sometimes in September 2018, that his children were wizards. 4

It was learnt that the self-acclaimed prophet insisted that the wizardry in the children caused the illness of the suspect. Following the prophecy, the father was said to have subjected his children to all forms of inhuman treatments.

The relatives of the suspect reportedly joined in the maltreatment of the three children saying that their mother of the kids bewitched them.

Otasi and Levi later led the children into the bush where they were tied to a tree and forced to drink sniper before abandoning them to die.

However, Success miraculously wriggled himself out and crawled to the roadside where he was found unconscious and taken to a hospital on December 31.

Success, after regaining consciousness on Tuesday morning, narrated his ordeal to the police prompting a search to be conducted in the bush where the decomposing bodies of Miracle and Godstime were recovered.
