Reno Omokri - “Babangida Wanted To Develop A New Language For Nigeria”

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has stated that former Head of States, General Ibrahim Babangida, wanted to develop a new language for Nigeria.

Reno disclosed this after a Twitter user complained about the use of Arabic on the logo of the Nigerian Army.

In response, Reno Omokri wrote:-

”What is wrong with that? To many people in the North, Arabic is like what English is to us in the South. The Nigerian Army had its origins in the North, so it is understandable. If our ancestors had their own written language, then I would push for that. If it is Islamic, I have a problem. But Arabic, I have no problem. Both English and Arabic are foreign. That is one thing I give to General Babangida. He had an idea (now abandoned), to develop a new language and writing (Gwoza) for Nigeria”.
