Kano State Hisbah Nabs 648 Beggars, Warns Of More Arrests
Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 648 suspected beggars for allegedly violating the ban of street begging.
They were nabbed from February 2020 till date.
The board’s spokesman, Lawan Ibrahim, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.
The suspects were arrested at the Bata Area, Murtala Mohammed way, Nasarawa Hospital, Railway Station and Yahuza Suya junction.
Ibrahim disclosed that persons apprehended were 416 female and 232 male.
The official warned that the board will continue to arrest beggars who refuse to abide by the law.
“We will make Kano streets beggar-free. Those arrested have been screened and first-time offenders will be handed over to their relatives.”
