DID YOU KNOW? Biafra Cannot Solve The Current Problems In Igboland (See Why)
The Igbo people, natively Ṇ́dị́ Ìgbò, present-day south-central and southeastern Nigerians, are one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa.
The Igbo populations are found in Cameroon, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea, as well as outside Africa.
Biafra
Talking about Biafra–Biafra is an ancient kingdom dominated by the Igbo-speaking people of West African subregion.
The name Biafra was derived from two Igbo words ‘bia'(come) and ‘fra'(take). And the Republic of Biafra, existed from May 1967 to January 1970 during the Nigerian Civil War.
To cut the story short, right now an average Igbo man or woman believed that the restoration of Biafra would make life easier and better. But how true is that? I doubt!
Osu Caste System
Have you heard the word OSU before? Perhaps you have or haven’t; either ways, I’m going to briefly tell you what it is.
The Osu Caste System is an ancient practice in Igboland that discourages social interaction and marriage with a group of people, referred to as Osu (outcasts). This is because they allegedly dedicated the Osu people to the Alusis (deities) and are thus seen as inferior to the “Nwadiala” (free-borns).
The OSU caste system has been abolished in several times by Igbo traditional rulers, but despite all that, Osu caste system refuses to go in Igboland.
I’m a Rivers man, but I know so much about the Igbos because my mom is from there, I schooled there too. As a matter of fact, I’m writing from Abia state(Igboland).
Problems In Igboland
The If Igbos are not united. Tribalism, favoritism, discrimination and hates within themselves. Maybe that’s the reason why they’re yet to achieve Biafra referendum.
Equal Right & Justice
We are all humans and citizens of Nigeria by birth and right. We should be treated equally. The OSU caste system should be abolished completely. Till then, y’all are not serious with Biafra referendum. – Prettyloaded
