DO YOU AGREE? Music Producers Don’t Get Enough Money

The only producer in the industry that has ever gotten the credit he deserved is probably Don Jazzy.

Everyone else, from the legendary OJB Jezreel down to the new generation, in fact, don’t exactly get their accolades. Or maybe they just don’t get the accolades they deserve.

For instance, Pheelz created all of Olamide’s early works from “YBNL” to “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” and was responsible for giving the emo-rap template that characterized Olamide’s works in that era.

I’m talking about the guy that sampled Ameno on a track back in 2012! But he needed to come back years after to do a single with Buju before people realize he’s an actual talent.

How about someone like Shizzi? The majority of those who know that name won’t even recognize him if they see him. Yet he is responsible for the songs that brought Davido to the limelight.

But while Davido is shutting down the O2, getting endorsement deals, and having fans rallying around him, where is Shizzi?

Or should we talk about Masterkraft, who has worked with every star possible. He even produced Wizkid’s “No Lele” from the “Superstar” album. Yet people don’t regard him any more a star than someone like Ruger. He drops a song today, he probably wouldn’t even get Ruger numbers.

Then, there’s a lot of these new kids doing exceptional things but no one is blowing their trumpets.

Think about P.priime. The guy worked on “Carpe Diem,” made beats for Wizkid, Zlatan, made hits like “Zazoo” and “Ozumba Mbadiwe,” and has he even got a plaque yet? Maybe he’ll get one at The Headies.

The sad point is, producers deserve more accolades than they’re getting. Or maybe it’s just me.

Anyway, what do y’all think?

Do You Agree That Producers Don’t Get Enough 💰?
